Who would have thought the second last weekend in November would be something we will remember for a long time, but thanks to two terrific wins, it will live long in the memory.
First up on Saturday evening, St. Colman’s Under 19’s got the better of Clyda Rovers in the B Grade County Final, winning on a score line of 3-14 to 2-14. With much negative press about the under 19 competitions across Cork in 2022, it’s testament to both players and management for putting in the required effort and deservedly collecting a county championship.
On Sunday, our Junior C hurlers travelled to Aghavine to take on Fr O’Neills in the quarter final East Cork Championship. After an unbeaten group stage we travelled in high hopes but also expecting a strong opposition. Despite the hugely adverse weather in recent weeks, Fr O’Neills new pitch was in excellent condition and a credit to their club. This led to an entertaining hour of hurling which little to separate both teams. In the end, despite some confusion from the referee, our lads came out on top by a single point 2-12 to 2-11.
The season continues with a semi final v Carraig na bhFear on Sunday 27th of November in Aghavine. Best of luck to players and management.
