Junior C’s Qualify for knockout stages

Our second string team have kept the year alive as they booked their place in the 2022 East Cork Junior C Hurling Championship 1/4 Final.

After an impressive opening day win against Bride Rovers, the lads were unlucky not to beat competition favourites Carraig na bhFear on a rainy Sunday morning (October 23rd) in Shanagarry. Instead a late Carraig goal meant a draw game but still let us in the driving seat to qualify. Result 0-13 to 1-10.

With St Catherine’s needing a win, we made the long trip to Ballynoe on November 2nd to play the hosts under lights. While it would have been easy to play cautiously to try and avoid defeat, the Rovers lads had no intention of leaving St Catherine’s take the initiative and instead rattled in 3 excellent goals and an impressive 14 points given the conditions. Result 0-9 to -3-14.

We almost achieved automatic qualification to the semi final but we are more than happy going into a quarter final on good form. With still some games in the group stages to take place, we await further fixture details.
